Nike Timing & Techlab
Before Wearables became a buzzword
Led global CMF for Nike’s early wearables, authoring CMF for the iconic Presto “C” Bracelet and building scalable CMF systems that helped expand Nike into lifestyle tech while driving millions of units to market worldwide.
When
2001 - 2004
A key achievement during my time at Nike was leading the CMF strategy for the Nike Presto “C” Bracelet, an early blend of footwear culture, wearable technology, and lifestyle expression. I authored the launch color, material, and finish system, positioning the product as a cultural artifact aligned with Nike’s design philosophy, and extended it into seasonal programs for longevity and consistency. The Presto “C” Bracelet earned major international awards—including Red Dot Best of the Best, GOOD DESIGN, iF, and IDEA Silver—and now resides in the Art Institute of Chicago’s permanent collection.

Beyond individual products, I represented the Equipment Division on Nike’s Corporate Color Committee, helping shape the global color palette and standardize materials, finishes, prints, and patterns across categories—elevating CMF as a strategic language rather than just surface styling. Within Nike Timing & Techlab, I led end-to-end render-to-reality execution: designing CMF systems and merchandising for 100+ SKUs per season, delivering factory specifications, approving mass production, managing daily overseas development with Asian vendors, streamlining color development through single-sourcing, ensuring global color consistency, and negotiating materials, schedules, and costs.

I drove forward-looking innovation through global early-adopter research, shaping seasonal color stories and future direction. This led to original concepts for Nike's first limited-edition artist collaboration with Geoff McFetridge and integrated product stories across Tokyo, New York, and Los Angeles.

My CMF leadership supported Nike’s expansion into lifestyle wearables, contributing to millions of units sold, two consecutive top performance ratings, and features in global design and trend publications. This work laid the foundation of my philosophy: CMF as strategic systems that translate creative vision into scalable, manufacturable, and culturally meaningful products.
